![]() ![]() It's hard to keep a self made color theme with you all the time, and CL doesn't have an import feature. (i have seen this problem in other editors but not in Aptana just for reference).Īnother thing that would be nice is the line-height of the text to be adjustable (see EditPlus) and CL could be one of the VERY (1 or 2) few that offer letter-spacing too (can't remember in witch one i saw this feature but it exists).Ĭall me paranoia or not but the way the coding feels, it doesn't feel "organic" (check out EditPlus or E-texteditor or Intype or Aptana Studio 3 the way the code typing feels, it's very hard to explain but i think you will see it two).Īnd one last thing on the design part, put some more syntax color themes, i like an editor to be ready to deploy anywhere with no complex configuration on the visual part. I think the width allocated for a character is a bit small. If were on the visual side, i tried to use the Monaco font (for Mac only but someone ported the font for Win - very beautiful coding font) and it's getting cut when it's bold, italic or italic-bold. So something for an instant animation would be nice. One thing is still missing from the sidemenu, an option for the animation, when your in a hurry you really don't want to wait for the menu animation to end. Reason: working with multiple files in multiple instances becomes complicated with 1 screen being occupied with a browser.Įx.: make a class or function -> shortcut key for preview (internal browser) -> shortcut key back to code -> increased efficiency. I forgot to mention that i am a PHP developer and like others i don't feel very comfortable taking my hands of the keyboard and no more waiting for firefox to open especially when it is packed with plug-ins. Some more features with shortcut keys would be nice, i usually use shortcut keys to navigate (an example on this matter: i cant find shortcut key for the preview button in the inspect menu) and please make the debug open files in internal browser (like the preview button), you can make an option to select your default browser be the internal one. Probably just me (actually i have seen others) but I like more code visible so another + with the auto-hide on the side-menu, so many others that lack this ability. I suggest making the main toolbar mobile, so you can put other toolbars next to it (see NuSphere PHPEd), so much space wasted with the empty space on the right. What i really like about CL is the support for so many frameworks (i believe it's the only one on the net that supports so many), VERY fast code suggestion and the minimalistic approach on the interface. I'll start off by mentioning that i have tested almost if not all code editors and IDE's on the net and CL ranks high but there are some things are somewhat missing or not so great. ![]() This will be a long post, because you are one of the very very few team's that actively works on improvement's to their editor and keep's tight communication with the user community. ![]()
